Dietary Fats - Healthy and less healthy

Dietary Fats - Healthy and less healthy

Dietary fat is an important part of diet like protein and carbohydrate.

- Saturated and trans fats are the less healthy fats. Doctors have associated them with bad cholesterol and chronic inflammation disorders like heart diseases, diabetes etc. - Saturated fats found in full cream dairy (Milk, butter, cheese, ice-cream), tropical oils (Coconut oil, Cocoa butter, palm oil) should be consumed sparingly.

- Trans fats found in deep fried foods, baked goods like cookies, pastries should be avoided when possible

- Monounsaturated fat and polyunsaturated fat are good fats suggested as better choices for your diet by nutrition experts. These are found in foods such as nuts (walnuts, almonds, cashews, peanuts), seeds (sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, Sesame seeds, chia seeds, flaxseeds) vegetable oils (Mustard oil, olive oil, sesame oil, peanut oil, sunflower oil), avocado.

All fat consumption should be in moderation as fats are high in calories
